As I was walking this morning, I noticed I was still carrying the changes I felt in our session- I was noticing the "domes" in my body. I particularly noticed the domes of my feet, abdomen, and a feeling of lift in my lungs/ribs. I felt very tall from my feet to above my head with a new line with gravity that seemed effortless. I felt I went from being 5'2 to feeling 15 feet tall with spaciousness.
I think back over the session and gathering up all the pieces- the phrenic nerve stretch to the hamstrings supporting the psoas to the gaining more hip space in the fascial dog -each piece helped the next, and I could feel my mind not being able to comprehend it all, but my body sure did.
It was so amazing to feel BIOTENSEGRITY in my body-to really understand through the physical (and beyond) what biotensegrity is (during fascial dog) as I reached my foot through the wall, the other through the floor, one arm reaching into space, and one through the bench.
We spoke about tensegrity in my training, but really- until I felt it- it was a concept. When you know it on a level beyond the brain, it becomes a wonderful awareness and changes one's way of being in their body-or at least it did for me!
I have a different orientation in my mind as to "space" inside myself- my skeletal structure is not the dominant image now, with tissues on it. I am feeling the space-the spaciousness inside me, and the bones are holding that space-either very big or very small, depending on what my emotions are doing in some sense........once again I felt how changing the body can change the emotions. Finding spaciousness inside gave me more resilience to meet the outer world. (Being very sensitive, I tend to contract when in the outer world.)
It's been 8 years since my Rolfing training, and although the "tute" taught the manual techniques of Dr. Rolf's work, I did not get the connections in the body the way I experienced through your work. Even Rolf movement did not come close to what you know, live, and teach.
Thank you for choosing your path-you studied with some very highly regarded teachers and brought it all together into an amazing embodiment of Structural Integration and movement. I am very new to the Pilates method, so I can only relate this in ways of Dr. Rolf's work, my own body, and what Dr. Rolf was wanting us to "get". (I wish I had met her.)

I think I never had a flowing lesson where I felt that we created that moment together! It was so powerful and unexpected. I felt strong and elastic doing the exercises with your support…The Tree never felt so good!

I've been teaching Pilates for over 21 years and before that, ballet and modern dance. I've always had a curiosity about the mind-body connection. My personal discovery and healing journey has taken me through many different forms of movement, body work, and methods of self-expression; from the body's biomechanics and Metaphysical healing arts to Neuroscience and the body’s response to the attention we give to the quality of our daily movement and exercises.
Until recently, I found it difficult to articulate the value of becoming aware of those subtle sensations that move through the body all the time.
My quest for understanding how the awareness of these body sensations relate to Pilates and my teaching of Pilates has kept me curious and engaged for years. I absolutely love the way Wendy’s 3Core Connections® Embodied Perspective has helped me link the puzzle pieces of my ongoing inquiry! Her message of bio-intelligence is rich with wisdom from the classical Pilates perspective while deeply integrating the science of the nervous system’s healing response on the body.

I really appreciate how you approached my session…as we began with your embodied anatomy chart by discussing the sense of being held in gravity, what that means, how lift can be achieved naturally, how one can feel held by this lift.
I really felt held as we proceeded…by the straps on the yoga wall, by the environment you created, by the nature around us, and by you. Your touch was confident, reassuring, informative…and it was interesting to feel the changes in my body after doing the particular moves that we did.
The shoulder stretch on the bars gave me a lovely sense of openness and relaxation in my upper back and my chest. My breath felt easier.
Being on the reformer for the first time, practicing pressing with the three sections of my feet, guided by your touch, I could feel the length in my psoas when I stood. I felt a lessened tension in my pelvis, and felt a bit taller and lighter. This sense of lightness, balance and ease was welcome, and I carried it forward throughout my day.
What continues for me is my curiosity around using resistance with movement to actually release and relax the psoas….very different than stretching! I’m looking forward to exploring this awareness more in the future.
